My course mates in the DMin module on Global Missions by the Globalized Church were most inspiring.
One single lady pastor came from Hong Kong, and interestingly has gone to Israel to introduce the Messiah to the Jews there. She is a trained accountant and worked in one of the Big 5. Her church members are now burdened for the people in Middle East.
Another single Chinese lady pastor from Singapore, who left pastoring after 10 years, and is now doing church planting in India, by faith, among the Unreached People Group. She is learning Hindi now. Talk about cross-cultural.
Then there was a Caucasian man, who flew in from the USA just for the course. He was in China for 9 years doing church planting work. He went to China during the tense time of Tiananmen Square incident. Now back in USA, pastoring and reaching out to Somalis who are in his city.
Another is a Hong Kong-born Chinese lady whose family migrated to the USA, but she sensed God's calling and is now doing church planting in Northern Thailand. A trained engineer by profession.
Another is a Korean brother who is based in Singapore, training Korean missionaries to bring the gospel to the different parts of the world. Look out, the praying Koreans are coming!
Another course mate is a local Chinese Singaporean pastor. Although his church is relatively small (less than 100), has sent out several missionaries. His interest is how can the Asian Church provide pastoral care to the missionaries as he has observed many burnt-out missionaries and pastors. This is of course the whole issue of recruitment till the retirement of the missionary.
May the Lord of the harvest grant each of you success in all your endeavors for the Kingdom's sake.
